How Does A LH Ovulation Rapid Test Work?
It’s important to identify the day of ovulation when attempting to conceive. After the ovary releases an egg, it is a crucial moment in a woman’s reproductive journey as it is a narrow window of opportunity that should not be missed!
How To Test & Read Your Ovulation Kit?
Its important to read the instructions stated on your ovulation kit, as there may be slight variations in their usage.
With our LH Ovulation Rapid Test, you can expect highly accurate results of over 99% within 10 minutes using your urine sample. Do keep in mind that it is important to read the results at the 10-minute mark and not after that duration has passed.
Below is a guide that outlines the step-by-step process for utilizing our LH Ovulation Rapid Test:
- Place the test on a clean and level surface.
- Hold the dropper vertically and transfer 2-3 full drops of urine to the specimen well (S) of the test device, and then start the timer.
- Avoid trapping air bubbles in the specimen well (S).
Once you have completed the test, you will notice two lines. The first line serves as the control and confirms that the device is functioning well. The second line indicates a surge in luteinising hormone (LH), and if it appears as dark as or darker than the control line, you will be fertile the next 24 – 48 hours. This is an opportune time to try to conceive! However, if the line appears faint or doesn’t appear at all, it indicates that ovulation has not yet started, and you should consider testing again on a different day.
When Should You Take An Ovulation Test?
The amount of LH in our urine can be diluted when we consume liquids. It is advisable to restrict fluid intake about 2 hours before the test, to ensure accuracy in test results.
Females with a regular menstrual cycle should only test once per month. However, those with an irregular cycle will need to test more frequently, starting a few days following the start of your period and continue testing once a week from that point forward.
When testing for LH, it is recommended to take the test in the morning due to the LH surge that occurs at this time. You could opt to perform the test twice a day, with the first test between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and the second between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. However, it is important to be consistent with the timing of your tests, whether you perform them once or twice a day.
How Accurate Are The Test?
Our LH ovulation rapid test kits have received FDA approval and boast a high accuracy rate of over 99%! However, it is important to note that the reliability of the kits may be compromised under the following conditions:
- Irregular Periods
Having an irregular menstrual cycle can make it difficult to accurately predict your ovulation date. Individuals need to test more frequently than those with regular cycles. It can be helpful to track other indicators of ovulation, such as basal body temperature and cervical mucus changes, to better pinpoint your fertile window.
- Health Conditions like PCOS
Individuals with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) may experience multiple LH surges or elevated levels of LH throughout their menstrual cycles. This can lead to unreliable results when testing for LH. If you have PCOS, it is recommended to consult with your healthcare provider for guidance on how to accurately track ovulation.
- Medications
There are medications such as fertility drugs and antibiotics, that have the potential to alter LH levels in the body, which can lead to inaccurate test results. If you are on medication and are unsure on how it may affect your test results, it is recommended to consult with your healthcare provider.
The desire to start a family can be incredibly strong, and the LH Ovulation Rapid Test can help fulfil that wish by accurately predicting ovulation. Don’t be afraid to seek guidance from a medical expert to get additional support in your fertility journey.
